Ted and Maryann
Nice to see you guys are hitting the big league and have fun at summerfest :)
On to Memphis! Way to go band, lots of folks are cheering for you.
Congrats on an EXCELLENT outcome Saturday nite! We couldn't be happier for all of you. Look out Memphis!
Hey, love your revamped website! Cool, man!
Hi Mike! WOW! Great site you have here..And the people you've met and played with..Phew! Awesome.
We came out to see you guys last night for your 9 year anniversary. It was a geat show with quite a few guest singers! Great job guys keep up the good work and I hope to see the next cd soon!
Choosing entertainment for a well-educated, well-traveled group of senior adults is a tricky task. Michael Lee Ammons and his Hot Shots are the right choice every time. Michael’s knowledge of the blues mixed with his superior talent leaves my group begging for more. They’re a perfect fit for The American Club in Kohler, WI or anywhere else on God’s green Earth.
What? Where's the porn?
When it came time to plan the music for our wedding, we immediately thought of the Water Street Hot Shots and just as we thought, they kept us on our toes, dancing in our bones, singing, shaking and having a natural ball all night long! Carol & I highly recommend Michael and the Hot Shots to anyone who is getting married and wants the best that Wisconsin has to offer in genuine good-time music. Lil Rev & Carol (www.lilrev.com)
I forgot to mention that I noticed that Rich Higdon uses a Maid-Rite Washboard that is manufactured by Columbus Washboard Company. I play a Maid-Rite Washboard also.
I play the washboard for Chicago Based Banjo Band The Windy City Jammers and fellow Washboard Player Rich Higdon caught my interest because of the town Sheboygan, WI. We play the song Mention My Name In Sheboygan and my friend and fellow Windy City Jammer member John Pitt sings the song. I rode through Sheboygan on an Indian Trails bus and I mentioned John's name in Sheboygan to the bus driver (I did it at John's request).
We were delighted to have attended the concert at the Woodwalk Gallery. Great show, great location, great night. Mike, I told Nancy the other night now that the Olympics are over and I'm settled into a new job I should get back to practicing my guitar. I spoke with you breifly and after hearing you last night I'm there. Thanks
Guys,
Thanks for a fabulous performance at our welcome dinner in Door County at Gordon Lodge, the night before our wedding. In addition to being really nice guys, you are amazing musicians with an incredible repertoire. Thanks for making our night so special. Come play some shows in NYC and let us know when you're in town!
Best,
Rob and Deena
New York, NY
Sunday night just isn't right without the Hot Shots...
thanks for the great music all the time guys
Tell Dr. Mock I said hello. He helped get me through graduate school about 15 years ago. Glad to see he is still playing good music.

Love your website, great color choices. Very well done. The black/white "hotshot" group photo very cool. The instrumental art photo with washboard, steel guitar and mandolin, I love it. Now, the music....how fun is that to listen to. Makes me want to kick off my shoes, grab a lemonade, take a walk down to the "crik" and forget things for awhile. Be proud of your talents.
Hey Guys,
Great job at the Chicago Legends concert. It was great to see more former professor rockin' out! Thought you might be interested in a silent auction coming up where the signed blues guitar, won at the 2007 Grafton Bluesfest, will be up for bid. The event is May 17, 2008 at Belgium Community Center. Auction from 1-6PM, dance from 7-11PM.
Thanks!
Hey guys! I saw your show at the Legends of Chicago Blues on Saturday night! Amazing performance! It was really nice to meet you!!!!
Peace!!
cool site.
Michael Lee, nice job updating the website. I particularly like the photos of me.
Remember, a link in hand is worth two on the grill.
love the music!!!!!
The Water Street Hot Shots entertained the Sheboygan County Bar Association at a recent social gathering. As chair of the event, I received so many positive comments about the Hot Shots. Members loved the group and many felt the music was the highlight of our event. We will certainly be calling the group again for a future event!
Hello lovely boys- quite a "site" for sore eyes. Glad to see you're still goin' strong.
hi chaps hello from the rainy north east england you,s sound great, pity I a am on the wrong side of the pond to see you.
I love you guys!!
Michael, My wife and I first saw you in Door County at Sister Bay and love your music. We bought your CD "Somethin' Bout the sky" and play it often. I now look forward to this new CD! I'm glad to see you are staying busy and hope to see you again. Rick......Thanks for the great music!
Thank you Michael, Alan and the rest of the band members for allowing us to use clips of "This will take you Back" in the Lakeland College Spectrum Yeardisk! We will preview a number of songs, one minutes versions - and I believe we'll hook some more listeners on this great music!
Martha Schott, Spectrum faculty adviser
I'm ashamed to say that I moved back to Sheboygan 4 years ago and have never seen you--until the Paramount Blues Festival last weekend. You guys are great! My favorite music is the blues and hokum of the 20s and 30s and you guys do a great job. I can't wait to hear you at the Pumpkin Fest in Sheboygan this Saturday. I have to get your CD, as 'Saturday Night Rub' and 'Eagle Ridin' Papa' are a few of my favorite tunes.
bluesmike
Brady St. was fun - firetruck sirens and jugglers notwithstanding! You guys have class and put on a great live show. Ryan actually left the flame-eating juggler when he heard you playing "Coffee" (Bean Grinder Blues to those not yet initiated)...what better compliment from a 3-year-old? Can't wait to see you again at the Blues Festival in September!
You're great! Love ya!
Hello Water Street Hot Shots! We are planning a Sunday night trip to Sheboygan just to hear you play:) Hope you will be at Water Street on July 8th. Ali will be ready to dance! Take care and hope to see you in July!
Thanks for all the great music! Sunday night has become a great time for Big Ed, Charlie, SanJose Bob and myself. Our experiments have proven that the Great Dane beer(s) and Makers Mark whiskey go quite nicely with old time blues music.
if ou have a email mailing list please add my address!

thank you:)
Saw the Paramount show at Grafton Last weekend. I was blown away. Nice Place, Good Food, Great Music. Looking forward to the next time you play down there.
Hi guys you have intersting site
A loy of thanks.
Very interesting website. :)
Good luck and keep up good work. Serj.
saw you at the Gibbs wedding in wisco. got me thinking: i like beer. you like beer. we're practically brothers!
Just wanted to let you know how much we loved your music at my cousins wedding. You guys were so original. I love listening to your cd at home and my husband loves to steal it and play it in his truck when he's driving around. Hope to see you all again very soon!!!
Excellent music, it made for a very fun and entertaining cocktail hour at the Gibbs wedding. It was the perfect type of music to set the tone and get things going for the rest of the night. Thanks.
Here's an Oscar Wilde quote that came to me by way of Robert Bonotto: "Only the shallow know themselves."
You were incredible at the Gibbs' wedding in October! Such a fun band! Definitely a great addition to a perfect night! You were very talented and VERY entertaining :) Thank you!
There couldn't have been a better band for my brother's wedding. It was a great night and the music really set the tone. Thanks for coming fellas. We all really apppreciated it.
Thank you so much for playing at our wedding in October. You were absolutely fantastic. It was perfect music for 2 hours of cocktails before dinner. We got so many compliments. Many of our guests were from Chicago and really appreciated the unique, up-beat music. It really added to the outdoor/country-like ambiance we were looking for. Thank you for making the trip across Wisconsin for us. We can't thank you enough. Maybe we will have a 1 year anniversary party just so we could hire you back! Otherwise, we will see you when we make it back up your way.
Thank you again! You helped make our day absolutely perfect!
This is a favorite but my Dad gets the credit for it. "No sense being stupid if you don't show it". I'd be interested to know if you've ever heard it before.
In your proverb safari, does that include the twisted ones from Stan Laurel, i.e., "You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead" and "Beauty is only knee deep" ?
Great CD
I miss those nights with you Michael Lee and Tracy at the Bayside. I was there last night. It's just not the same. Well, neither are we. See you at the Townhall next week. Love you guys!
Hi all. nice site.
Love your music. Keep it up!!!!
Not a proverb- rather a line from eecummings- and one of my favorite that I'd say pertains:
"...I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing, than teach a thousand stars how not to dance..."
i miss tapping my toes on a creaky wooden floor- best
Looking forward to see/hearing you at the Beans and Books in Shawano. I'll be there.
two brats make a double
if we can't work together, why work at all
Excellent site guys. Love the new CD, thanks Hot Shots. We thoroughly enjoyed the Fish Creek concert Tuesday afternoon, and we didn't even get wet.
Your show on Sunday night rocked!! Will be there for many more to come!!!
Great site guys!
Joanna and I miss our Sunday night pilgrimage dearly!!!!!
Can't wait to spend a night back home and enjoy the music.
I had to chuckle when I read the bio -- the part about Mom pushing you into guitar. All these years I thought you actually asked for a guitar and that's how I got signed up for lessons as well. Here I was blaming you for my having to sit in that little smoke-filled room at the back of that guitar store once a week, faking that I had practiced, my lie obvious by the horrible sound I was plucking. Mom must have sensed your talents. Great music, great site. Well done. P.S. Remember when I used to make you play Stairway to Heaven so I could fall asleep at night?
Nicely done gentlemen! Thats one hot platter.
Check out photo from October 2005. Rich, only you and Honest Abe Lincoln can gracefully wear the stovepipe hat.
I loved hanging out with mike ammons and pat kennedy down on state street listening to them move me and the audience with their sick ass style of the acoustic and harmonica
"2 parts coffee 1 part blood"
peace easy
thank you michael lee ammons
Finally after all the years of following Mike and Pat around just to hear Bean Grinder Blues, I can hear it on demand.
I've enjoyed Mike's playing for years, alone, with the Hot Shots or with not shots it's always a fun evening.
Thanks boys!!
Real real nice stuff guys. very impressed with the sound samples, love your version of House's version of Patton's pony blues. I play it too but in standard E. Very important that people continue to play this type of music. I also play pre-war blues, country, ragtime, folk & bluegrass. Check out the Rattlesnakin' Daddies at Sandbar music. Keep up the very inspiring work. congrats on your new cd.
40 hrs. a week, and I still need more blues. Great job on your CD, keep it coming !
great!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved the show in Fish Creek. We can't stop playing the CD. Great Job!! Looking forward to catching all the HOT SHOTS.
Gentlemen, congratulations on the CD! It's about time your music was made "to go." Keep pushing on.
Great website, Mike and Hotshots...love the CD too:) I'm looking forward to spreading the word about its release.
So just WHAT kind of music do you fellers play? Looks great! Looking forward to the CD. We're short of coasters 'round here since I had that last shindig with my biker friends so that new platter will be much appreciated. Best wishes for continued success.
